The Cambridge University Botanical Garden has planted two Wollemi Pines beside the entrance to their main glass house. The URL for one of the trees and a proud attendant is below.

We saw a tree in Kew Gardens London, this inspired us to buy one, although we have a wood we have not planted it out yet.
It will be joining our redwood, monkey puzzle and Ginko when it's old enough; we will need to protect it from the deer Re: Re: Have you seen a Wollemi Pine?

We saw ours in Kew Gardens last year, and as we have close connections to Australia and will be replanting a large garden in 2007, we thought planting a Wollemi would be a lovely way of acknowledging them both. We have even christened the plant 'Wally' (yeah..original eh?!)

I first saw a real live wollemi pine at Kew, although I'd ordered one as soon as they became available in the UK.
At the end of may (07) I planted it out in my garden, it seems to have taken well to its new spot and it's already put on about a foot of growth in semi shade. I've erected a small mesh fence around it to protect it from rabbits, also I've set some rocks around it and planted some ferns to make it feel at home. I grow many other kinds of conifer but this one takes pride of place ! |
