This is the Wollemia I received in September 2006. I have just planted it out. The soil is slightly acid. The bracken and the oak leafs which are around in abundance are turned into fertile soil. This young Wollemia was 55 cm tall when I planted it. It will need good protection from winter cold and also from local wild life (hares!) which tend to go for the juicy bark. Although I have fenced off the whole of the arboretum, there are occasionally marauding Welsh mountain sheep that manage to find a way in. They are a menace for young trees. That's why I fence off many of my most valuable young trees individually.
